With a full waiting list and 250 walkers and runners, the inaugural 5k was a hit. The organization plans to make this an annual event.
A group of 250 walkers and runners took to the streets of San Diego for the inaugural Optometry Cares 5K Run/Walk on an early Saturday morning during Optometry’s Meeting. The June 29 fundraiser benefited Optometry Cares–The AOA Foundation, raising more than $20,000, and generated awareness of the many programs supported by the Foundation.

“We are thrilled that so many people took time out of their busy schedules during Optometry’s Meeting, rising early to participate in this unique occasion,” said Cheryl Archer, OD, president of the charitable organization. “The fantastic weather and lovely scenery was certainly an added bonus, and we look forward to making this an annual event for our meeting.”
