If you’re looking to speed up your refractions, a new digital device from Luneau might be able to help. The company will launch the Eye Refract digital refraction system next week at Vision Expo East.

The device combines a Hartmann-Shack wavefront aberrometer with a digital phoropter. Luneau says a practice using Eye Refract can do both autorefraction and subjective refinement in the pre-test room on a single instrument in just three minutes. An algorithm based on standard subjective bracketing techniques allows Eye Refract to provide an optimized refraction for consistent, reliable measurements, the company explains in a press release.

An ARVO study comparing Eye Refract with traditional subjective refraction showed the device produced similar results for spherical and cylindrical components, visual acuity and visual satisfaction while taking less time than traditional subjective refraction, the company says.
