To give astigmatic patients who wear contact lenses the best possible vision, doctors sometimes have to rely on a custom design if the patient’s corneal toricity or power needs aren’t run of the mill. Some patients with these requirements get dissuaded from daily disposable wear altogether.

Now, more patients can be fit in the modality right out of inventory, as Bausch + Lomb has added to the parameters of its Biotrue Oneday for Astigmatism daily disposable lenses. The expansion extends the full power range to +4.00D to -9.00D in three cylinder powers of -0.75, -1.25 and -1.75; it also adds additional parameters in a -2.25 cylinder.

“In the past, I’ve had difficulty offering my patients a daily disposable lens that fits within their busy lifestyles but combines the visual clarity and comfort that they’re looking for,” said Mile Brujic, OD, of Bowling Green, OH. With this recent expansion,  “I look forward to providing more of my astigmatic patients with a lens that delivers on these needs to address their unique visual demands.”
