Pass the Dark Chocolate, Please

If you’re a fan of dark chocolate, it may be helping to boost your mood, according to a recent study done by University College London. The study, originally reported in Depression and Anxiety, analyzed whether different types of chocolate are associated with mood disorders and found that people who eat dark chocolate less likely to be depressed.

The study considered different factors such as height, weight, marital status, ethnicity, physical education, chronic health problems and more to be sure that only measured chocolate’s effect on depressive symptoms, reported Science Daily. “After adjusting for these factors, it was found that individuals who reported eating any dark chocolate in two 24-hour periods had 70 per cent lower odds of reporting clinically relevant depressive symptoms than those who reported not eating chocolate at all.”
