Mr. Hideo Ozawa, the founder of Nidek Co., Ltd., was recently appointed Chairman of the Board, and Mr. Motoki Ozawa, Vice President since 2005, has been appointed to the post of President and CEO. This decision was approved at the Board Meeting following the Annual Shareholders Meeting on June 24.

 

The FDA has approved Durezol (difluprednate 0.05%, Sirion Therapeutics) for the treatment of postoperative ocular inflammation and painthe first steroid to receive an indication for postoperative pain management, the company says. In two Phase III trials, Durezol reduced inflammation and pain while patients mean IOP remained within normal range. Additional studies indicate that Durezol may benefit the patient when used one day preoperatively, and current studies are assessing its possible benefit for patients with anterior uveitis.

 

Optometry Giving Sight (OGS) and Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) have formed a cooperative partnership to further optometrys ability to provide sustainable vision care services to people in need of refractive error correction and low vision services. OGS will focus on fundraising for missions, while VOSH will plan program implementation.
