The American Optometric Association released an interactive online version of the American Eye-Q survey. Available to the general public, the survey compares respondents answers and presents a statistical breakdown for each question.

The survey reveals that most Americans place eyesight above their other senses in importance, but that they do not know how to care for it properly. For example, 80% of respondents to the survey agreed with the following statement: It is more important for adults to wear sunglasses than it is for children to wear sunglasses.

The AOA has dubbed March Save Your Vision Month. [This] is an excellent opportunity for optometrists to concentrate their efforts on educating their patients and the public about the importance of regular eye care, says Kerry Beebe, O.D., chair of the AOAs Clinical Care Committee.

This survey is available at www.aoa.org.
