The State University of New York (SUNY) board of trustees voted unanimously for optometrist David Heath as the permanent president of the SUNY State College of Optometry. Dr. Heath has served as the vice president and dean of academic affairs at the New England College of Optometry, in Boston, from 1994 until the end of 2006. Leading the students, faculty and staff of the college represents the highest professional privilege and honor, Dr. Heath says.

 

A study from the University of Illinois at Chicago found that the results of LASIK are equally predictable and effective in patients between ages 40 and 69. Patients were separated into four age groups; the researchers found no difference in results based on age. In all groups, patients experienced a visual acuity of 20/40 or better post-LASIK.
