Diagnostic Technology

Corneal Topography Software

Topcon’s Aladdin biometer with corneal topography now incorporates the Olsen intraocular lens calculation formula. The addition allows for a wider selection of options to calculate IOL power with precision and confidence, according to the company. The Olsen formula uses the C-constant to predict effective lens position of both in-the-bag and anterior chamber IOLs.

Ophthalmic Lens Case Design

Volk Optical’s new case design for its diagnostic and therapeutic lenses has been engineered to withstand 50,000 openings without hinge breakage, according to Volk. The exteriors are color-coordinated by lens family and labeled with the lens name. The cover plate can also be custom engraved, the company says.

The case is now standard on new single lens orders, or can be purchased individually as a replacement, according to Volk.

The Salzburg Reading Desk (SRD), by SRD Vision, is now available to clinicians and researchers in the United States. The SRD helps optometrists assess near, computer and intermediate reading speed and reading acuity using a high-resolution monitor and software that presents progressively smaller sentences, according to the company.
